About Us

The Saint Thomas More Society of Fort Wayne, Indiana is established as a civilly unincorporated private association of the Christian faithful affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne South Bend.

The Society promotes the mutual interaction of faith and culture in the realm of law and public policy.

Inspiration for the Society comes from the life and legacy of St. Thomas More (1478-1535), patron of Statesmen, Politicians and Lawyers, whose fidelity to his faith was firmly grounded in the search for truth, the dignity of the person, the unity of the family, and the justice of civil society.  Martyred for his religious convictions, he is recognized as a symbol of integrity and a hero of conscience by people regardless of their nationality or beliefs.

This religious society brings together Catholics and people of any faith engaged in the legal profession, along with elected government officials to promote education in Catholic Church doctrine.

Membership is not limited to Catholics.

The Society seeks to:

(a)  Celebrate a common inheritance under the law,

(b)  Provide for continuing education,

(c)  Nurture an ongoing ethical and spiritual formation,

(d)  Cooperate in a shared mission of the laity to the world, and

(e)  Promote the study of the principles of the Catholic Church relating to moral and            legal problems encountered in the practice of law.

The St. Thomas More Society is a Catholic professional association that promotes the mutual interaction of faith and culture in the realm of law and public policy.

The Society was formed in 2013 and is organizing several events to occur through the year, including the following:

(a)  The local Red Mass,

(b)  Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses,

(c)  Guest Speaker lunches and dinners, and

(d)  Devotional gatherings and retreats.

In addition to preparing and hosting the annual Red Mass, a Mass for those in the legal profession, the society will arrange programs and activities related to the intellectual and religious growth of the members, as well as honor those professionals that represent the principles and ideals of St. Thomas More.
